The AutoPASS for ferry prepayment agreement has replaced the old scheme of value cards and frequent user cards with the AutoPASS tag and AutoPASS ferry card. The agreement includes most of the country’s ferry connections (see current connections here). Some ferry connections in Trøndelag are not included in the AutoPASS for ferry scheme.
When you create an AutoPASS for ferry prepayment agreement and pay an advance amount, you get an AutoPASS ferry account. After each ferry journey, your payment – including discount – is deducted from your ferry account.
Prepayment provides the following discounts on ferry journeys:
- 50% discount for private customers
- 40% discount for business customers
- 17% discount for foot passenger tickets on the ferry connections that offer this
To receive discounts on the Moss-Horten connection (Bastø Fosen), a separate agreement must be created at basto-fosen.no.
To receive a discount the vehicle must be registered with the same payment solution as used by the individual ferry. While some ferries use the AutoPASS tag, others use the AutoPASS ferry card. A vehicle can be registered with both a tag and a ferry card in the same prepayment agreement.

If the vehicle does not have a tag, you must order this from a tag issuer. You must then register the new tag in your AutoPASS for the ferry prepayment agreement via My Page.
If the vehicle you want to register in the agreement already has an AutoPASS tag or EasyGo tag, the system will normally automatically find the tag number when you enter the vehicle’s registration number.
Each vehicle in the agreement must have its own tag.
When creating a prepayment agreement, you can choose to order an AutoPASS ferry card. To get a discount on ferries that use the ferry card as a payment solution, you must have a ferry card. If you only travel with ferry connections that use a tag as a payment solution, you do not need to order a ferry card.
If you have already registered a vehicle in the agreement that you want to order a ferry card for, or want to register a new vehicle in the agreement that you want to order a ferry card for, or you have lost a ferry card and want to order a new one, you can easily do this on My Page. Remember that if you register a vehicle in a different vehicle price category, you must order a new ferry card by contacting our customer service.
Each vehicle must have its own ferry card. An AutoPASS ferry card costs NOK 50, which is deducted from the advance amount paid to your ferry account.
NB: Ferry cards are sent by post when payment of the advance amount has been received. Delivery by mail can take 1-2 weeks.
Private customers can link two vehicles to the same AutoPASS ferry account – Private. The advance amount is calculated based on the vehicle that is in the highest vehicle price category.
Business customers can link an unlimited number of vehicles to the same AutoPASS ferry account – Business. Business customers pay one advance amount per vehicle in the agreement.
Each vehicle must have its own tag and/or ferry card registered against the vehicle’s registration number which is linked to the ferry account.
